Kajetanowicz and Baran in top three after first loop of Acropolis Rally
Kajetanowicz and Baran began Acropolis Rally, the third round of the FIA European Rally Championship, in excellent style. After yesterday's Qualifying Stage, in which Kajetan and Jarek recorded fourth fastest time, today they started the first special stage on Peloponnese peninsula as sixth crew on the road. Halfway through Saturday's stages LOTOS Rally Team crew holds third place in overall standings.
In the morning dark clouds gathering over the banks of the Gulf of Corinth threatened with rain and slippery surface on today's tarmac stages. The Gods of Olympus held back the rain but nevertheless the first loop of Greek rally was tricky and unpredictable.
For Kajetan, driving Ford Fiesta R5, this is the first start in Rally of Gods which for many years used to be one of the most difficult rounds of the World Rally Championship. Today, four-time Polish rally champion still has three stages to go.
Kajetan Kajetanowicz: Slippery – this is the best description of these three stages. It looked like the tarmac had grip but it often caught me out. The grip level was suddenly changing in the middle of many corners – even local drivers couldn't cope with this situation :-). On the second stage I had to reverse because there was some water which I hadn't expected. The brakes have to work really hard as there are lots of downhill sections. Twisty roads, wet surface and my first start in this event make this experience very hard but at the same time exciting. I am happy that I can fight in such prestigious event – and even more because of our good position.
Starts of Kajetan Kajetanowicz and Jarek Baran are supported by strategic partner of LOTOS Rally Team - LOTOS Group - as well as CUBE.ITG and Driving Experience.
